Update On Custom Modern Home in West Des Moines

See our client’s unique home vision come to life.

A few months back we introduced a custom home project with some very unique requests. The homeowner wanted a single family home with a modern contemporary house design in West Des Moines. See sketches of the original design and why our client chose to custom build.

Since developing the design for this home we have been hard at work to make our clients vision come to life. As you will see, we are getting very close to a finished product.

We wanted to share a few of this unique home’s highlights, some you may never have seen before in a suburban Iowa home.

Our Favorite Features

Party Deck: The home features two upper rooftop decks with glass garage doors serving as windows in the winter, but in the summer can be opened to let the fresh air in.

Contemporary Kitchen: In the kitchen, there will be unique Euro-style cabinets. They are a very minimal design with open shelves. These cabinets give you a sneak-peak at the style which will flow throughout the house.

Staircase: The staircase will definitely be a stand-out focal point in the house. It is being fabricated by our partners at J.T. Unique and will feature open risers (meaning there is no back to each step) and a custom lumber tread.

Doors:

Sliding doors are a very popular trend right now and this house will feature five of them. Two of these doors will open up into the master bedroom upstairs. All of these industrial doors are also being custom-made by J.T. Unique.

Windows: The window casings are simple and stylish. They feature a drywall return on three sides with a contemporary window sill made to withstand moisture and the weather. Holding true to a very industrial/commercial look and feel. On the exterior of the house the sleek black frames will be visible.

Garage: The garage will be two stories high with a large vault. There will be no hanging tracks within the garage, so the doors will be pulled straight up by the track when opened. Creating a nice “uncluttered” look and feel.
